I'd like to start with the old saying that man cannot live by bread alone. Any human being needs something for his soul as well. Personally I find it in poetry. Robert Frost said, that poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words. So, the purpose of my speech is not only an attempt to inspire to Robert Frost's work, but also to express myself through his poems and his work. All that you will hear today is treasure and experience I would like to share with you.
So, why did the choice fall on Robert Frost? As for me it is clear as noonday. His poetry strikes to the heart, gives different emotions, makes my life happier and more romantic.
So, you are welcome to the world of one of the biggest poets in history, the world of Robert Lee Frost. They say, that the name affects the destiny of people and their place in life.Robert Frost got his name in honor of Robert E. Lee, Chief of the Confederate Army during the Civil War. It's interesting that his name is derived from the ancient German Robert «unfading glory». Was it his purpose in life or not , I can't say.
The person I admire. Robert Lee Frost
Another interesting fact from his biography is his Zodiac sign, which also can be added to the chosen path of Robert Frost. He is Aries. Aries is one of the strongest signs of the Zodiacal circle. Dreaming of being famous and successful in everything, people of this sign don't wait for someone's mercy and actively fight for their own interests and dreams. He was always against those rules in the society, he rejected political and social reforms and wrote about it in his poem «The road not taken».
His Zodiacal sign Is Aries
I can't say that his childhood was careless and easy.Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, where he spent his first eleven years. After his father's death, he moved with his mother and sister to eastern Massachusetts near his paternal grandparent. He was the best student in his class, he was good at studying Latin and Greece.
He wrote his first poems when he was a student at Lawrence High school from which he graduated as co-valedictorian. In 1894 his poem 'My Butterfly' was published. Frost worked as a teacher and continued to write and publish his poems in magazines. In 1912 Frost published his first collection of poems, A Boy's Will, at the age of 39. The collection contains some of Frost's best-known poems: 'Mending Wall,' 'The Death of the Hired Man,' 'Home Burial,' 'A Servant to Servants,' 'After Apple-Picking,' and 'The Wood-Pile.' In his poems he shared his thoughts about his own life, his experience in life and daily routine.
His third collection of poems impressed me most of all. I liked his poem 'The Road Not Taken,' very much. He wrote about such usual things as nature, the environment to express his emotions. Woods, roads, stars, houses, brooks are things which were taken to show images in the poem. With the help of the road he tried to show his own life, his success and failure and all his way to the place of destination. He suffered a lot in his life. During all his life he tried to choose between two purposes: being a poet or a teacher. It was difficult for him to decide to choose and he continued to be a teacher and a poet at the same time. In the poem he said that he did not choose any of those roads, but he went by his own way. The poem helps us realize that life is a matter of choices, you have to take into consideration all the facts to make a decision, to take the right way. Painting this picture I imagine myself in the forest thinking of my life.

The poet also used woods to show the difficulties to make a decision, and could not manage to find it. Moreover he opposed to social norms, he was always against the way he went and indicated it with the help of autumn as the symbol of stagnation in the country, in his life, because Robert Frost writes about himself.
The yellow color of the woods is the season of autumn in the poem
The poet's decision is indeed unique, this is why he says, «And that has made all the difference». The poet shows through «The Road Not Taken» that decisions in life people make can be illogical sometimes .
The poem can be a future story to recite to generations to come as an example. So, on graduation day, parents and family in America often turn to poetry. They often recite Robert Frost's «The Road Not Taken» as these words are popular for good reason , addressing the excitement and beauty of graduation, the prospect of changes, new beginnings, and entering the next stage of life. They want to express what they would like to pass on to the next generation — some thoughts, a few lines of guidance, a gesture toward nostalgia, an elder's wisdom.
Life is a matter of making choices. As for me, I am also at the age when young people try to make choice. Being young and diligent in my life , I can only hope I make the right choice and take the right road. Robert Frost said that we are free to choose, but we do not really know beforehand what we are choosing between. The poem makes me think about my life and I am sure I should pass through my road to understand if the choice is right.
«Do not follow where the path may lead... Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail», said Robert Frost reminding us that there are different ways to live, but you should choose your own unique way.
Let's move on to the next part, which is connected with travelling. Robert Frost had to travel a lot giving lectures and readings.
He went to the Soviet Union in 1962 as a member of a goodwill group. He had an opportunity to meet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. He described him as smart, big and «not a coward». In 1962 Robert Frost visited Anna Akhmatova .She was widely honoured in the West.
At the time of his death Frost was considered a kind of unofficial poet laureate of the US. Frost once said, «I would have written of me on my stone: I had a lover's quarrel with the world» .The epitaph engraved on his tomb is an excerpt from his poem «The Lesson for Today». Robert Frost died on January 29, 1963 in Boston as a result of the complications of prostate surgery. Frost was buried at the Old Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Vermont.
In conclusion I want to say that Robert Frost « had a lot to say about the importance of poetry and being a writer as well as some more general life advice, such as «In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: — «It goes on....». Just believe in yourself, lead the way and choose your own way!
